late summer escapade

Siargao Island, is the surfing capital of the Philippines (still, as far as I know). It is one of the hidden paradises of Asia. It is composed of 48 islands and islets-politically divided into nine municipalities: Burgos, Dapa, Del Carmen, Gen. luna, Pilar, San Benito, San Isidro, Santa Monica, and Socorro.

Siargao Island contains the largest mangrove forest reserves in Mindanao. Long stretches of wetlands indicate a potential for commercial seaweed propagation. Siargao Island is greatly influenced by the winds and currents coming uninterrupted from the Pacific Ocean, intensified by the Mindanao current running westward through the Siargao Strait, this is where the big waves come from. Lucky me, I got the chance to live two-hours away from it (if you're travelling by boat).

Just this last week of June, (thanks to Dra. Mina) me and my colleagues from our HD unit  had the chance to go to Siargao Island (specifically in the municipality of General Luna) and spent two days and a night all for free. That was one of the most fun and adventurous escapades ever. I have been to Siargao for many times already, but this one was the best ever. Everythin' for free. Food. Transportation. Island Hopping (Naked and Daku Island). Resort Hopping. Videoke Night. Accommodation. and never forget the BOOZE! haha. We had soo much fun. Where will you ever find someone island hopping by night? Well, take it from us. Hah!

the famous Cloud 9

Pansukian Resort (not all can get in to the most expensive resort in the island).

It is like just another day in paradise. I really hope we could do this again. Still hoping and praying for this September's fiesta and Surfing Cup. hahah. The island has also one cool spot (Magpupungko Beach) famous for its big rock formation, a replica of a face of a man, seemingly just lying, by the shore.
Magpupungko

I'm with my Iloilo buddies here. This was last May 2008. Just after our graduation. See how magnificent the view is? Want to go back there, but now, with my HD pips. :D

These moments, are just few of our memories that we will surely cherish. Escapades and adventures that seldom happen, but are unforgettable. Nature tripping is what I oftentimes love to do. But I only get an itsy-bitsy chance of having it. That's why whenever I have the oppurtunity, I always grab it. hahaha. I just hope, that these beautiful sceneries will be preserved and maintained. Let's just hope, no stupid and foolish mind will plan to destroy and overuse it.

As the song goes, " lahat ng bagay na narito sa lupa, biyayang galing sa Diyos kahit nong ika'y wala pa. ingatan natin at 'wag nang sirain pa pagkat pag kanyang binawi, tayo'y mawawala na ".
